As I inspect the rooms before arrivals, I can hear the announcers calling the results from the first day’s finals in this FIS World Cup Event, which just happens to be across the street on Parliament Hill this year. What a great spot to hold such an event! With rainfall just a few days ago, I actually wondered if the race would be a success, and yes, it is. Even Quebec City is falling victim to global warming trends. However, the Quebecor team has done a fantastic job making snow and grooming the city streets for this world class event. The weather has since been on our side, and I must say the temperature has been perfect for those of us who love the outdoor winter sport.
I just walk across the street, and step up on top of the Old Quebec City fortifications, and have a front row seat. It is truly amazing watching the competitors compete, and I cannot imaging a more perfect backdrop to the course. With Christmas lights, and decorations illuminating the race course and the quiet gusts of wind as skiers glide by, I am reminded once again why Quebec City is not only the perfect place to visit, but also to live. I am a big fan of city living, but with all the wonderful events that go on here, Quebec City should be on the top of just about anyone’s list!
The competition winds up on Sunday……..just two more days to see the best world athletes compete. Come and enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity! For more information on the scheduled events, go to:
