L’Affaire est Ketchup: a unique experience.

The other night, some friends and I had wanted to try a new restaurant. Generally, we always go to Chez Victor or at the Salons d’Edgar, but this time, we wanted a little something … special. I often passed by l’Affaire est Ketchup on Saint-Joseph, but even though the name made me smile, I never dropped in. Given the size of the restaurant, I expected a small neighborhood restaurant, a place for a quick bite. After stepping foot into the place for the first time I realized I was mistaken!

At L’Affaire est Ketchup, it was more like fine “home-made” cuisine! Homegrown flavours, personalized service, and an open kitchen… L’Affaire est Ketchup excels, filling our plates with fresh local products, for an absolutely reasonable price. $6 to $12 for appetizers, $15 to $ 22 for your main meal, and $4 to $ 6 for dessert. Very small price to pay for such an experience.

Upon arriving, we were each brought a beer from the Barberie, a micro brewery in the area, then we were invited to check out the menu. The menu, handwritten on a blackboard on the wall, changes regularly, making each visit to that restaurant a unique experience.

As a starter, I ate a puff of black pudding of the butcher-caterer, Le Pied Bleu on rue Saint-Vallier, Quebec. A real delight. The little girl in me who refused to eat the sausage had to review her convictions! Then, as a main dish, I tasted a tab of beef from the Eumatimi farm, tasty and rare, as I like. To finish it off, a pannacotta with white chocolate and raspberries. Decadent.

L’Affaire est Ketchup also offers a lunch menu: a table d’hôte reduced to only about $ 15 (dessert is extra). The restaurant is located about 20 minutes from our hotel on foot, but believe me, the experience is worth it! So treat yourself and give it a try!

You will not be disappointed, I give you my word. 🙂
